A Troubled
Mind Wonders
The neighbour’s cat came purring through
Once more.
I wonder where it goes each day
What sights unfold
Before its feline eyes.
The neighbour’s cat lays its head
Wherever it so please.
Without a care in the world
It strolls through
Like a capricious wind
Gently touching my life.
Sometimes I wonder what it’s like
To be as free as that cat
To not have to worry
About how far the next
Pay check will stretch.
Now here I am
Gazing at the neighbour’s cat
Envious of its carefree existence.
It looks up
Stares at me
Twitches as if to laugh.
It couldn’t know about my jealousy
Could it?
